Bilbao has always had a high quality hotel offer and there are establishments with a long tradition, such as the Hotel Carlton or the Hotel Ercilla. But since the tourist boom brought about the opening of the Guggenheim Bibao museum, most of the important hotel chains have settled in the city: Sol-Melía, Barceló, Hesperia, Husa, NH hotels, Holiday Inn, Novotel,etc

You can find good and very good establishments although, they are not cheap. That is why the most recommended is to consult travel agencies, where you can find weekend packages at a good price, or even last minute offers.

Here you can find some of the most popular hotels. All of them are very well located in the heart of the city and you can walk to sightseeing.

Donostia-San Sebastián has a wide range of hotel establishments due to the large number of tourists that come to this beautiful city every year.

In September takes place the prestigious San Sebastian International Film Festival that attracts a large number of actors, both Spanish as famous Hollywood stars, as well as a great number of cinema fans.

Donostia is a city of great glamour and beautiful landscapes, which was put into fashion as a summer resort by Queen María Cristina in the 19th century.

In Vitoria-Gasteiz we can find hotels that range from 4 stars to the simplest hostels.

Paradores are high-class hotels distributed throughout Spain, which have the common denominator of being located in unique buildings with high historical, artistic or cultural interest. They also offer an interesting gastronomic offer, putting value on traditional cuisine and products from the regions where they are found.

There are two Paradores in the Basque Country; one is in the province of Gipuzkoa and the other in Alava.

Agrotourisms were born with the aim of trying to improve the living conditions of the rural population and thus avoid the depopulation of the villages, at the same time as to conserve the natural heritage.

The first agrotourism was inaugurated in 1990, and they have achieved very good results for both farmers and tourists. The minimum service offered is Bed and Breakfast with affordable prices. But, tourist can choose from a wide range of activities that include: riding horses, tasting honey, picking fruits and vegetables, learning about wine and cheese making, or shopping hand-crafted gifts.

This is a beautiful project that has made possible to improve countryside living conditions, and bring countryside closer to urbanites.

Good services at a low price. There are several youth hostels in the Basque Country, we highlight some.

Gipuzkoa is the province with largest number of campsites, following by Bizkaia and lastly Alava with 3 establishments. It is easy to see that campsites are settled mainly in coastal villages where many tourists spend their holidays.

If you are keen on nature, campsites are a nice accommodation alternative for good price. Some campsites also offer a limited number of bungalows and mobile homes, which must be booked well in advance due to high demand.
